Whether your Insurance Company (or loss adjuster) has appointed ServiceMaster to manage the restoration programme of your buildings and/or contents or you do not wish to make a claim and pay yourself.

We will carry out your emergency work as soon as possible in order to help control the situation. We will also carry out an assessment of the damage, our technician will be grateful for your assistance in providing information about the incident.

Fire damage – What happens next?

Please note that the extent of our work may be restricted by your policy cover. For example, if your policy provides only contents cover, our technician will only carry out works to the contents items and will not be in a position to remove, clean or restore kitchen units, joinery items, plasterwork or internal decorations under the instructions received from your insurer. Please check if these items are covered under a different policy.

It is important that all work is carried out quickly and efficiently. We will concentrate on emergency work to help prevent ongoing damage. We will require you to authorise the proposed emergency work to proceed.

Emergency work may include the following:

1) Site safety checks: have the gas and electricity supplies been made safe?
2) Emergency pre-cleaning of vulnerable surfaces to prevent further damage from residues.
3) Ventilation of the property.
4) The application of solutions to burns/charred surfaces and smoke damaged walls to prevent the release of odour bearing molecules.
5) Removal of burnt/charred materials and/or contents items dependant upon policy cover.
6) Introduction of odour control measures, to control airborne odour particles.
